Keywords Research Business Concept

What is Search Volume?

Search volume is the average monthly searches searched by the users in the search engine.

To know your content is relevant to the user’s query, it is very important to understand what and how users search. The keyword research process helps to know the exact search volume, competition, and relevancy of the keyword. Keyword research for SEO/website is the best practice to rank easily for the targeted keywords we are inserting in the content or any pages.

Why Keyword research is important?

Suppose if you are running an e-commerce store business, You may write an article on Tips to keep in mind before buying artificial jewellery. To write this article we can focus on specific keywords to write content.

In this situation, your keywords may be artificial jewellery for women, Trending fashion jewellery designs, buy artificial jewellery online.

If you are inserting the above keywords in your blog/webpage, If the users search for any of these above-listed keywords, then are more chances to show your results in the search engine.

If you insert the keywords properly in the webpages, When Google bots come to your website to crawl, it crawls all the important places and indexes your webpages according to the category you are inserted and stored in the database.

If the users search the same or related keywords, then the search engine thinks that your content is relevant to the user search query and displays the results on the search engine result page.

If you are inserting the keywords randomly without doing any keyword research, the chances of showing your results in SERP for users’ queries is very less and thus we can’t expect any results.

This is the reason, I like to say half of the SEO success all depends on the proper keyword research.

Types of keywords

According to the length, keywords are mainly categorized into 3 types

1.Sort tail keywords.

2.Mid tail keywords.

3.Long tail keywords.

I explain these by taking examples related to artificial bangles.

Short tail keywords

Shorttail keywords are general search queries consisting of one or two words, Short tail keywords usually have high search volume with high competition and are difficult to rank because these keywords do not show a specific result for a search query.

Short tail keywords have more search volume. By targeting this keyword you can expect high traffic but Because of high competition for short-tail keywords, SEO won’t work fast as it takes more time to rank by competing with good authority websites.

An example of a short-term keyword is Bangles, here the keyword bangle is not specific and we can”t guess the intention why the keyword is searched by the user. Therefore the results are also not specific.

Mid tail keywords

Mid Tail Keywords are the keywords that carry 3-4 words in them and it is popularly used for a specific search. Mid Tail Keywords are less competitive when compared to  Short Tail Keywords. By targeting mid-tail keywords we can rank faster in search engines.

An example of a mid-tail keyword is Buy Bangles online, here the intention of the user in this keyword is specific that the user is searching the keyword to purchase bangles.

Long-tail keywords

Long-tail keywords are keywords that carry more than 4 words, These keywords are more specific that can be questions as well. It is hard to target products and services by using long-term keywords because these keywords are long and mostly used for questions.

Long-tail keywords are less competitive when compared to short and mid-tail keywords. As long-tail keywords are more specific with less search volume, most of the competitors try to rank for short and mid-tail keywords so if we target long-tail keywords with proper keyword research we can rank easily in search engines.

An example of long-tail keywords is buy the latest designer bridal bangles online, Here the keyword is for a specific user who is searching for bridal bangles with the latest designs.

Factors to choose keywords

1. Search volume.

2. Competition.

3. Relevancy

1. Search volume-Higher the search volume, the higher the traffic to the website. I prefer to choose high search volume keywords with less competition.

2. Competition-Select the keyword with less competition so that we can rank easily in the search engines. Higher the competition, difficult to rank for that keyword.

3.  Relevancy– Relevancy of keywords helps Google and other search engines to determine what your content page is all about. It helps the search engines to decide for what keywords your page is ranking for the search query.

CONCLUSION

Keyword research can help to engage users and this leads to more conversions. Keyword research is the major and best technique for SEO success. I hope after reading this blog you get a better idea to do keyword research for SEO. Share the comments about this article in the comment.
